The Benefits
Rope access is the primary alternative to scaffold and mechanised access. These traditional methods have many disadvantages; for example, scaffolding can be prohibitively expensive, slow to erect, inconvenient, unsightly, a very real security risk, can damage pavements and block emergency escape routes. Powered access machines provide safety at height, but, due to their size and restrictive mobility, do not always provide the best solution.
The outstanding benefits of the rope access system are it’s...
SAFETY
Rope access is an internationally recognised safe system of work governed by IRATA. IRATA has produced a code of practice that all rope access companies should work to. Highline is proud to be an association member and work to its CoP. Independent audits by H&S professionals have proven year on year for the past 20 years that IRATA member companies provide the safest work at height. Highline ensures safety by working to the CoP,only employing IRATA trained personnel and only using certificated and regularly inspected rope access equipment for all their work at height.
SECURITY
Other methods of access pose a very real security risk. Rope access poses no such security risk as the means of access to your building or structure is removed at the end of each day.
MINIMAL IMPACT
Highline easily co-ordinates with our clients schedules. The rapid installation and removal of the rope access system causes minimal impact to the environment, building structure, building occupants, pedestrians and traffic flow. Rope access does not impair the look of buildings or structures; in fact, clients report it is aesthetically pleasing to them and the general public. Rope access creates minimal disruption; you will hardly know we are there.
VERSATILITY
The applications of rope access and the services Highline provide are only limited by the imagination of the client. Rope access is a growth industry in the UK and worldwide,in the offshore oil & gas industry and onshore in the preservation of the nation’s building fabric. Managers responsible for the ‘at height’ cleaning, maintenance, installation and testing of their buildings should consider rope access as a 21st century solution and the alternative to structural and mechanised access.
COST EFFECTIVENESS
At last the bottom line! Facilities managers are expected to deliver year on year savings and reduce costs for the companies that employ them. Rope access can help them do this. The combination of the worker and the access system coupled to the speed of its installation and removal, delivers considerable savings over structural and mechanised access, each time, every time. Highline encourages architects and surveyors to consider rope access at the design stage of new buildings. Rope access systems offer total building access versatility and need minimal ongoing testing to ensure their safety.
